FAQ - Boxes in GDSII files

by Juergen Thies - 12 Dec 2009, 16:29 CET

The boxes are part of the GDSII
standard for many many years. But there are still some programs on the market, which not allow any box in a GDSII file. Even some founderies do not accept it. So it is sometime required to convert all boxes to polygon. This feature is available on the LayoutEditor in different ways:

Activating the option 'mainmenu/utilities/setup/fileformat/GDSII/box elements are saved as
polygons' will avoid the output of any box to the GDSII file.

Alternative you can do a semiautomatic conversion. Select all boxes and use
the feature 'mainmenu/utilities/convert uitlities/convert to polygon'. This
feature requieres the full version of the LayoutEditor.
